Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025

The PROG Act 2025 sets the central framework for online gaming in India, including fantasy sports. It defines categories of permitted games, the verification requirements for operators, and the advertising standards. State policy supplements the central framework.

MeitY advisory on fantasy sports

The MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) advisory on fantasy sports and online gaming governs advertising, KYC standards, and consumer protection across the industry. Operators comply with the advisory in spirit and in policy.

Who can play

Eligibility rules across the country.

18+ only

All paid contests require the player to be at least eighteen years of age. KYC partners verify age against the PAN and Aadhaar records.

Permitted state

Players in restricted states cannot enter paid contests. The Wecap app surfaces a state-of-residence prompt at sign-up and blocks entry from restricted states.

One account per PAN

One verified PAN per account. Multiple accounts trigger immediate review and consolidation of balances to the original PAN.

Self-exclusion honoured

Self-exclusion requests block entry for the chosen period (six months, one year, or permanent). Reactivation requires a cooling-off period and a confirmation call.

No investment framing

Fantasy contests are games of skill, not investment vehicles. Wecap does not advertise paid contests as financial returns. The desk does not present picks as investment advice.

Advertising standards

All advertising carries the 18+ warning and the responsible-play link. Promotional content is targeted only to permitted states. No targeting under eighteen.
